Children of the Lamp: The Akhenaten adventures

I picked up a random book from the library and I was fortunate enough that it was Children of the Lamp: The Akhenaten Adventures. It is about two very ordinary twins John and Phillipa who find out that they are djinn. They persuade their parents to take them to Uncle Nimrod, who had visited them in their dream. From there, they learn more about djinn and their power. I am in the early part of the book and a good plot is also unfolding. This book also has some familiar factors (such as the evilest of all djinn being a guy called Iblis) I would really recommend this to adolescent readers to old people. I enjoy this book a lot partly because I am a fan of fantasy book, and also because it is different. How many books do you see that involve djinn other than ones that picture them coming out a lamp?

Blogger

i think blogger is pretty good because its a great place to write our true opinions and express ourselfs i thnk we should continue doing blogger next year in grade 10 i realy enjoyed doing blogger and im looking forword to doing it all over again...

Fergus Mcphail

This book is about a guy name Fergus which moves to Melbourne and what happens in his life. I like the book because it's funny and full of adventure. Its and interesting book and i liked it alot.

BORING ALONE!!

BORING alone
I finally finished reading this stupid book and i think i just wasted my time when i was reading it. I don't like this book at all because i didn't learn anything from it and also because it's so silly and boring. I really felt sleepy when i was reading it, another reason why i don't like it because the ending was so sad.
So i don't recommend this book to anyone.
Sorry for saying that but I'm just saying the truth.

my big birket

I am reading this book now and it' s really funny i like alot the story! BUT NOW I AM WONDERING IF DEBBIE IS GOING TO GET MARRIED OR NOT ! this book is easy to read sooo it' s even better

Deltora Quest

This is the final book of Deltora Quest, and as much as i hate to admit it this book was the worst because the leader of the city was a snake who could only turn anyone into stone. I hate it also because the snake's weakspot was its head where the opal laid. Dont read this book you will fall asleep.

blooger

well i will tell you my story with blogger. A first I HATED BLOOGER I WAS SOOO MAD WHEN I WAS DOING IT. But time past and i getted use to it and i saw how does it work and that it s not as difficult i as though it would be. soo now I think it' s a really good thing because you can discuse of your book with your friends and teachers as well. Soo i hope that this will be the same for you

DONT PAT THE WOMBAT

Hi everybody im ahmad aldamen
I like the blogger becuase it learns something new and reading lots of books makes us proud of our selves and improves us alot.
Now i've been reading the story DONT PAT THE WOMBAT.
It is about The warts-and-all story of a Grade 6 school camp (including the funny, rude and naughty bits), featuring a loner called Jonah and an explosive teacher called The Bomb this is only till the half and i think it's a really fun story.

the Undys

The Undys is a book about Josh Undy and his dad, Phil. The relationship between them is very different from a normal relationship between a kid and his dad. Josh and his dad are always playing silly games, such as 'gut barging' and 'twelve-storey soccer'.

Josh and Phil take Aunty Faber into the city for her birthday. They get involved in a 'rat race' up the stairs of the Ivory Tower.

its a comedy book i I enjoy it because in each chapter josh and phil are playing against each other and also there is game at the end of each chapter.

Fighting Ruben Wolfe

I've never been a boxing fan, but after reading this, I understand a little more clearly what it means to have 'heart'. Not just when fighting, but when being a family, a boy, and a brother.

James and the Giant Peach

Giant talking insects, A mega-sized peach (that had been carried by 100's of seaguls which were tied with spider and silkworm string) and Cloudmen- Roald Dahl's James and the Giant Peach has it all. The main storyline chases a character called James, who's parents have been eaten by a rhinoceros. James lives with his two very cruel old aunts, Spiker and Sponge, and is treated very badly. But what James longs for the most are some friends. One day everything changes...

James and the Giant Peach is unpredictable and silly (in a good way). I really enjoyed it, and I was so involved into the book (or rather it was a bit short) that I did not even write a post when I was mid-way into it. Just like most of Roald Dahl's books, it is about a child. This book (or rather all of Roald Dahl's books) is very different from the usual novels. For example, have you ever read a book where a giant fruit gets stuck on the top of the empire state building?

In conclusion, this book is aimed for young readers, but that does not mean other age groups have to miss out on the fun too! I really found it an excellent novel- one that reaches the expectation I have for Roald Dahl.

A new kind of dreaming (finished)

I have just recently finished "A New Kind Of Dreaming", and it seems it was not too bad after all. After Jamie goes to Port Barren he finds a mysterious boat and befriends a boy of his age called Cameron. I am not going to talk about the storyline too much, because you will have to read it. The story involves a overweight cop who will do anything to hide his past and protect his career, a trip through the desert and some bones of a refugee from the boat. Still don't know where it's leading to? Then read it!

In my last post, I mentioned that it was very boring at the start, so those of you who find it dragging on, you will soon get absorbed by the storyline later on like I did. If you are looking for something humourous and witty, you won't find it here. What you will find though is an original story and a mystery to solve while reading it.

A New Kind of Boring

We have recently started reading this book and it starts the story by a group of young sailors finding a pile of dead bodies on a shipwreck. Two of the sailors decide to see what the situation is, curious and afraid at the same time. The older and slightly sinister one of the sailors kills a man on board who is holding a machete (thinking that he would fight back if he knew they were there) and tells his partner to keep it a secret. But they do not realise that there is someone watching them.

After the prologue, it jumps to another scene where two brothers say goodbye after one is sent to prison (for something I do not know yet). They have a short conversation and this is where I close the book, simply because it seems to drag on forever, even though I have only read about a chapter. There is no interesting dialogue that grabs my attention, but I am yet to find out if this book is truly worthy to be read when I go deeper into the seemingly boring storyline. This book does not appeal to me at all, although I think that when the brother that goes to jail is when the interesting bit will start. I want to know how he lives and what the plot of the story is, which I am sure I will find out the next time I open the book, if I ever bother.

Ella Enchanted

This was a really good book. I liked the story and they way the author wrote it it was an awesome book which i really enjoyed reading. My favourite part was the end when the spell was broken.

The story is about a Two years after being released from Camp Green Lake, Armpit is home in Austin, Texas, trying to turn his life around. But it’s hard when you have a record, and everyone expects the worst from you. The only person who believes in him is Ginny, his 10-year old disabled neighbor. Together, they are learning to take small steps. And he seems to be on the right path, until X-Ray, a buddy from Camp Green Lake, comes up with a get-rich-quick scheme. This leads to a chance encounter with teen pop sensation, Kaira DeLeon, and suddenly his life spins out of control, with only one thing for certain. He’ll never be the same again.

In his first major novel since Holes, critically acclaimed novelist Louis Sachar uses his signature wit combined with a unique blend of adventure and deeply felt characters to explore issues of race, the nature of celebrity, the invisible connections that determine a person’s life, and what it takes to stay on course. Doing the right thing is never a wrong choice – but a small step in the right direction.

I think that Sachar is a master storyteller who creates memorable characters.

Hatchet

Brian, a thirteen year old boy, his parents are divorced. Brian was going to his father, who is working in the mines of Canada. Brian started his journey through a bush plane. His mother handed him a Hatchet, before he left to the plane. During his journey, Brian took the co-pilot’s seat. Since it is a cargo plane, there is only a pilot and some goods. When the plane started to cross the wilderness of the Canada, the pilot had a heart attack.  He tried to contact the airport, but it was all in vain, Brian landed the plane near on an island. For a day, he had pain due to his falling. He did not had anything to eat too. he started to search for food. Soon he, with the help of his hatchet, he decided to survive. He made the fire with pebbles, and for many days, he survived without any trouble. Later, he realized that there might be anything in the plane, which was collapsed in the lake, will help him. He found some transmitters and some food. He tried to use the transmitters, but it did not work. Soon he heard the sound of a plane approaching towards him, later he was saved.

i liked the story because it showed discipline and how a Boy can live alone, at the end i thought that he will not be saved but he did. It's a nice story.

Dark Knights and Dingy Castles -Terry Deary

The story Dark Knights and Ding Castles, takes you back century years ago... when King's used to be called as Gods, and Knights wanting to wear shiny amours to look important and wielding new weapons which no other person can ever do. Peasants are the people which you don't really want to become... they clean up after other people's mess.

I recommend this book to those reader's who like to read about Ancient History. To reader's who like to laugh a lot and something to read to enjoy themselves.

Dark Knights and Dingy Castles -Terry Deary (Prediction Came True!!!)

My Prediction actually came true!!! :)

My prediction about the people who are trying to get in the King's Castle and there would be no one... came true!! While they were trying to break down the door's which took them 1 hour to do, and found no one!! hahah :)

My second prediction about the Knight that had to cut his finger off by disobeying the King's order... umm... that really never happened hahah, but i wish it did, i wanted to see how a Knight suffers from disobeying orders :)

Dark Knights and Dingy Castles -Terry Deary

My prediction about this story would be... That they are going to break down the King's Castle and find no one inside the castle. That one knight that disobeyed the King's order and had to chop one of his finger.

THE SILVER SWORD

Well now that i finished the book i have to say that it was okay.
I liked because it was talking also about Switzerland (my country).
But i disliked because it was talking about the war and i didnt like this really otherwise it was okay.

LionBoy

I have finally finished the story. This story taught me how to be independent and friendly. It was written by Zizou Corder. This is the first book of LionBoy, there are more sequels to this book such as LionBoy The Chase.

I enjoyed reading this story because of its metaphors and adventure.

I would recommend this book to tuahaa because i know he enjoys reading and because this book suites him well.

LionBoy

As i read the story i was wondering if charlie would find his parents along with the cubs' parents. As he travels he experiences dangers.

My book at the moment is My Haunted House written by Arminta Spookie. I chose this book because the front cover of the book gave me an idea to understand the story. Omar told me about it, then i decided to read it.

It's about a girl called Araminta Spookie she lives in a huge and haunted house with her Uncle Drac and Aunt Tabitha, but Aunt Tabitha is determined to sell the house and Araminta must think of a cunning way to stop her, especially if she ever wants her greatest ambition to come TRUE! so she always thinks about many ideas to stop her Aunt to sell the house.
It's a really good book and funny in the same time and it teaches you how to be responsible, and i hope all the students in grade 9 will read it.

I recommend this book to all the students in grade 9.

I have finished Lord of the Flies and I was slightly surprised with the ending. Ralph was chased down by Jack and his new tribe and Piggy was killed. However, at the end of the story, they were found, just as Ralph was about to be killed. The rescuers claimed that they say smoke and landed, looking for any stranded people. Luckily enough, Ralph wanted the signal fire to keep going, although Jack said it was "no use" and a "waste of time". Because of Ralph, they had been rescued. If Jack had killed Ralph before or if he did not bother lighting the fire all day, they would have certainly been doomed. The reason I was surprised by the ending is because they were rescued after all, probably for the sake of a happy ending. Although it was pretty close to a real situation, it is highly unlikely they should have been rescued at all.

I really enjoyed this book and I encourage everyone to read it, especially teenagers and adults. Unlike other survival books, getting food and shelter was not the main concern, but it was getting rescued.
